Research notice
This is a translation of the Italian version, which prevails in case of discrepancy.
Notice pursuant to Articles 13 and 14 of Regulation (EU) 2016/679 (GDPR) on the optional research consent, which you can give or withdraw in the Digital Twin app from Me › Research. Version 2026-10, last updated: 20 October 2026. For the use of the app, the app privacy notice applies.
The study
Digital Twin was born in a research project on human movement and sport. The study measures how well the app's physiological model predicts heart rate during bike rides, across many different cyclists, and what the errors depend on.
Data controller and contact
Klinika di Francesco Giuseppe Falbo, the same data controller as the app. For any question about your data and to exercise your rights: info@digital-twins.app.
What we use
Only data the app already has in order to work:
- physiological profile (CP, W', maximum and resting heart rate, body mass);
- power, heart rate, speed and temperature streams of your rides;
- wellness (sleep, HRV, resting heart rate);
- the model reliability measurements;
- year of birth and sex, to describe the group of participants.
What we never use: name, email, GPS position, texts you write.
How we protect it
- Before any analysis the data is pseudonymised: name and email are replaced by a code, and the table linking code and account stays only on the app's server.
- The analyses are carried out on this data.
- The data stays with Klinika: outside Klinika and in publications only aggregated results are shared (for example the mean error across all participants). No data allows you to be identified.
Optional, adults only
Taking part is not required to use the app and does not change any of the features you have. Participation is reserved for people aged at least 18.
Withdrawal
You can withdraw your consent at any time from Me › Research or by writing to info@digital-twins.app. From the moment you withdraw, your data does not enter any new analysis; results already published, being aggregated, cannot be changed. Deleting your account counts as withdrawal.
How long
The pseudonymised research data is kept for up to 5 years after the end of the research project, then deleted or made anonymous.
Legal basis and rights
Your explicit consent (Art. 9(2)(a) GDPR), which you can withdraw at any time without affecting processing already carried out. You have the right of access, rectification, erasure, restriction and objection, by writing to info@digital-twins.app, and you can lodge a complaint with the Italian data protection authority (garanteprivacy.it) or with the authority of your country.
